Steal This Picture

Waiting for the train at Camp Black.

The New York Public Library yesterday announced the addition of over 180,000 items to their free-to-use public domain digital images.  The images include a wide array of historically important to just downright interesting images and the Digital Collections page should be bookmarked by anyone who publishes on the web and often finds themselves in need of outstanding images like:

Waiting for the train at Camp Black.

OR

Wright Brothers plane.

OR

Crystal ball.

These were just a few of the images that caught my attention.  I haven’t had a chance to go through what is now a collection of 672,002 images.

I should warn readers, you may find yourself greatly distracted looking at some amazing historical pieces or disgusted by some of the others that chronicles some of the atrocities during the slave trade but it is an amazing collection that I know I’ll personally reference often for both images and interest.
