Google gets approval for self-driving cars in Nevada

Earlier in the month I wrote this post on self-driving cars from Google:

Google goes Jetsons

… in that post I was discussing how difficult it is to test the cars properly as state laws forbid the practice in it’s current format.

Yesterday, June 22nd, the ruling was passed as state law and Google has made a large step forward for DOT approval of driver-less cars.

Nevada’s ruling now gives Google (and other smaller companies) a chance at accessing a real-world test area for the vehicles and should be a great perk for the “silver state” that now draws a great deal of revenue from visitors.

Hopefully things go much smoother for Nevada, as similar efforts were made in Japan, and nothing but promises have materialized after several years.
